Stane Street Morris

Horsham, Horsham District

Wednesday 8.00pm-10.00pm
Greenway School, Greenway, Horsham, West Sussex

A fully mixed Morris side dancing in the North West tradition and named after the famous Roman road which runs through their part of West Sussex.

The North West tradition is based on dances from Lancashire and Cheshire and was always 'mixed' (men & women) unlike other men only traditions. The dances evolved through being brought into the industrial towns from the countryside. The workers wore wooden shoes (clogs) and danced in the streets, resulting in processional styles of dances where the clatter of the clogs accompanied the music.

They welcome new members at any time of the year.
