East Sussex Schools Traditional Dance Festival

An afternoon in May every 2 years
Marquee at Plumpton Racecourse, East Sussex.



The Dance Festival involves most of the schools in the Chailey Primary School cluster. It aims is the introduction of Primary Schools to four main English regional styles of traditional dance, (the Cotswolds, North West, Welsh Borders and East Anglia); to social, maypole and Tudor dance; together with associated regional customs and traditions.

Each school presents dance displays of a different style of English Traditional dance. Current styles include Morris, Molly, Maypole and social dancing. The afternoon culminates in a mass dance and there is a ceilidh in the evening.

Note: The afternoon is a performance event open to parents and well-wishers.
